My goal is to provide professional maternity care to families who are looking for a natural birth without unnecessary obstetrical interventions. Home birth is a safe option for today's family. The Midwifery Model of Care provides women and their families a normal healthy birth experience. I encourage families to take a proactive role in their healthcare. Midwives promote wellness through education, compassion and the fundamental belief that women's bodies are exquisitely designed to give birth. Pregnancy is a normal, healthy, physiological function that does not need unnecessary intervention to have a positive outcome. Midwifery Model of Care

Keira
echinea.JPG

Benefits of Home Birth

*Preserves family togetherness *Individualized care, privacy, and natural childbirth *Family better able to make decisions regarding medical health care *Risk of infection is reduced *Economic considerations *Help with discovering your own body's ability to give birth in its own way and in its own time *Support during birth. For this reason I like to schedule an hour-long consultation so you can start off knowing what to expect during your entire pregnancy and birth process. Prenatal Care · Prenatal visits are 1 hour. At each prenatal we discuss your pregnancy, your diet and exercise and then we check weight, urine, and blood pressure. Also, we monitor fetal heart tones, growth and well being. · Prenatals are once a month until 7 months, then twice a month until 9 months, and then weekly until the birth. · Since I am licensed by the Arkansas Health Department, they set my protocols of practice. The ADH requires that every client receive two visits from either a Physician, Certified Nurse Midwife, or ADH Clinician to ensure each client is healthy and low risk, making them a good candidate for a homebirth. This care provider will perform a complete prenatal profile, including all necessary blood work. (These visits are not included in my fees). Intrapartum Care · Gentle safe home birth with appropriate fetal and maternal monitoring. · As a birth facilitator I help you have the birth experience you want, with dependable professional assistance throughout labor and birth, giving physical and emotional support. · Water Birth · Thorough newborn exam with out any mother baby separation. Postpartum Care · The 24 hour and 1 week visits are in your home. 2 and 6-week visits are in the office. · Newborn Metabolic Screening Test is available · Birth certificate

Birth Song Midifery Care

Natural Childbirth Classes *This is a 5-week series’ of homebirth preparation classes., focusing on birth plans, normal labor and birth, complications, the normal newborn, the postpartum period, parenting decisions and relaxation techniques. Breastfeeding Support *Nursing support, advocate, and consultant. I am dedicated to helping women establish a healthy breast-feeding relationship with their newborn. I have lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas since autumn of 2000 and was born and raised in northern California. I graduated from Arkansas Midwives School and Services, a nationally accredited midwifery school in 2003, and hold two licenses to practice midwifery. As a Licensed Midwife (LM), I hold a state license that is issued by the Arkansas Department of Health. As a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) I hold both a national and international license issued by The North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). Massage Therapy is a vital part of my midwifery care. I receive great joy from the integration of bodywork and midwifery. I graduated from Jean Millers School of Massage Technology in Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1996. I see myself as serving women and their families during one of the most pivotal moments in their lives. My job is medical but so much more. Prenatals are for monitoring well-being, but also for listening to clients. I strive to educate and empower women so they have the confidence to birth the way they want. At births, safety comes first, and proper monitoring instills a sense of calm, reassurance, and peace. Birth is a physical, emotional, and spiritual experience for everyone involved.

maria photo 004
Carousel

Gallery

Google Maps

Abundant free parking available in parking deck across from office on St. Charles Avenue.

Map to the Office

Links

NWA Birth Network Citizens for Midwifery Midwifery Today Childbirth.org Waterbirth international La Leche League International Cesarean Awareness Network In His Hands Homebirth Supply Ozark Natural Foods Terra Tots NWA Natural Health Western Flower Wellness NWA Birth Network
Citizens for Midwifery
Midwifery Today
Childbirth.org
Waterbirth international
La Leche League
International Cesarean Awareness Network
In His Hands Homebirth Supply
Ozark Natural Foods
Terra Tots
NWA Natural Health
Western Flower Wellness

Smooth

About Birth Song

Birth Song Midwifery is a family centered homebirth midwifery practice serving Northwest Arkansas.
